membership requirements

  • Firefighters must be at least 17 years old

  • Must be a United States citizen

  • Must be in good general health

  • Must reside within the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department’s response area or surrounding areas

  • No prior training required, as all necessary training is provided

  • Must complete an application, which includes a full criminal background check for arson as mandated by New York State

  • Must pass an Occupational Safety and Health Administration and National Fire Protection Association mandated physical exam, which is provided at no cost

  • Attendance at monthly meetings, training, and special events is required, with minimum attendance percentages based on years of service

  • Training sessions are held on weekday evenings and Sunday mornings
